"Hotline Miami is a high-octane action game overflowing with raw brutality, hard-boiled gunplay and skull crushing close combat. Set in an alternative 1989 Miami, you will assume the role of a mysterious antihero on a murderous rampage against the shady underworld at the behest of voices on your answering machine. Soon you'll find yourself struggling to get a grip of what is going on and why you are prone to these acts of violence."

- Rezzed 2012 Report: The Big Guns

- Rezzed 2012: Eurogamer's Game of the Show is Hotline Miami
- There were lots of great games at Rezzed, but Hotline Miami is the best example of the sort of game we invented the show for, and it's also got purple in it and involves a lot of resurrection, so in a sense perhaps this was meant to be.
- 'Hotline Miami' wins 'Most Fantastic' award during Fantastic Arcade 2012
- Hotline Miami, the hyperviolent top-down brawler from Dennation Games and Devolver Digital, won top honors during this year's installment of Fantastic Arcade, the annual round-up of noteworthy indie games held in Austin, Texas.
- Hotline Miami: You and What Army?
- Hotline Miami never blinks. Melee weapons gouge raggedy-red trails into flesh, and gunfire leaves bodies with lovingly-crafted wounds. But the game is so heavily stylised, with its chunky sprites and synth chiptunes, that it feels and looks comic rather than nasty. The whole thing half-dares the usual suspects to get whipped up in a froth about ultraviolence, and undercuts them in advance with blown-up pixel art and a mysterious, tongue-in-cheek story about what a terrible person you are to be doing these things and loving them.
